Abstract
The growing demand for d.c–a.c. sinewave inverters for a wide range of applications has increased the interest in the advantages of the pulse-width modulation inverter. The spectrum analysis and the characteristics of a 2-level pulse-width modulation inverter were studied for three different cases. The theoretical P.W.M. process was treated both analytically and numerically; the asymmetrical and symmetrical processes were treated numerically by short computer programmes. The important results are summarized in the tables and in short formulae according to the main modulation parameters. On the basis of this analysis, design guidelines are given.
