SPATIAL SYSTEMS AND AUTOMATED GEOCARTOGRAPHIC ANALYSIS.

Abstract

Spatial studies involving automated geocartographic analysis are increasingly utilized in a great variety of applications. Major theoretical problems at the present state of the art concern an unbalanced state between the present potential for compilation of spatial data and the analytical potential, conceptual difficulties in optimizing the role of hardware in research and application, and human related problems. These interrelated issues are discussed within the framework of a proposed national spatial information system for Israel, ISRAMAP. Some potential application of the system is demonstrated.
