Abstract

The coupling of two identical chemical oscillators containing B-Z reagents and modelled by the Oregonator model is examined. The coupling, unlike our previous work, is only via the cerium component, while other species are not coupled. Formation of spatial and temporal inhomogeneities is found. Transitions from spatial homogeneous steady state to inhomogeneous one, and then to spatial homogeneous and inhomogeneous oscillations are examined. Analysis of the system as a function of the coupling rate and the stoichiometric factor leads to a number of regions in which different patterns are observed. The feasibility of experimental verification of these steady states and oscillations is discussed.
