Abstract
A nine-week general practice supervisors' training course held in the United Arab Emirates between February and April 1998 is reported. The purpose of this article is to report the aims, objectives, structure, educational processes, and evaluation of a course held for a small group of general practitioners who are currently, or hope to be, supervising residents in their final year of a Family Medicine Residency Training Programme. Reports of such courses are, regrettably, uncommon in medical education literature. It is hoped that by sharing the thinking, planning, experiences and outcomes associated with such an educational event, other programmes may benefit. Both authors have had experience in training general practice trainees and their supervisors in Australasia.
