Abstract
A compensator to account for the precession of the rotation axis defined by the transmission matrix of the fiber is proposed. This compensator requires only two control parameters more than existing first order compensators. With this scheme, the compensation for first order is decoupled from the compensation for the higher orders and is controlled independently.
