Abstract

The longitudinal polarization of β-rays emitted in the transition 81Tl20782Pb207 ( 1 2+ → 1 2-) was measured by double Coulomb scattering. The result obtained was P0 {81Tl207} = (1.04±0.25) (- v c). Assuming two-component neutrino theory with a left-handed neutrino and Cs = CT = 0, this result indicates that pseudoscalar interaction gives only a small contribution, if any, to β-decay.
