Abstract

This work deals with the control synthesis of resonant systems. In this work we present a new resonance approximation which enables efficient calculation of closed loop properties at resonant frequencies. The approximation is used to accommodate low damping resonances in a QFT design procedure. The extended design procedure is applied to the solution of the benchmark problem: ‘robust digital control of a flexible transmission’. The results offer insight to the fundamental tradeoffs of single input single output resonant system design.
