Abstract

Successful rhegmatogenous retinal detachment surgery depends on appropriate handling. Preoperative management of both ocular and systemic conditions is paramount in maximizing successful surgery with optimal visual recovery. Optimal postoperative management aims to maximize retinal reattachment result whilst preventing and minimizing complications. Patient education and understanding of their ocular management plan improves compliance and relieves anxiety, enabling best possible outcome.
