Abstract

The in vivo intrasplenic cloning method for bone marrow cells was applied to studios on the regulation of erythropoiesis. Experiments were made to test whether erythropoietin would reverse the specific suppression of erythroid clones, caused by polycythemia. It was found that the injection of anemic plasma (erythropoietin) elicited the re-formation of erythroid clones. The kinetics of the reversal is discussed in relation to the target cell for erythropoietin and its possible morphogenetic action.
