Abstract

A micromechanical analysis has been employed to study the combined non-linear effects of stiffening fibers and softening resin matrix on the overall behavior of a graphite/epoxy composite. The analysis relies on the material behavior of the constituents, and the predicted response is compared with measured data. The micromechanical approach is also utilized to predict the buckling loads of various types of graphite/epoxy laminated plates.
