Remarks on spontaneous mass generation

Abstract

Spontaneous mass generation is discussed. General arguments are given for the case of two zeros of β, implying no mass generation between the zeros. This is used to question the 1N expansion in a four-fermion two-dimensional model. General comments regarding dynamical mass and effective potential are also included.
