Abstract
Besides its two major foundations of knowledge and interpersonal aptitude, the psychotherapist must be endowed with an ability with and a sensitivity to words, images, storylines, and dramatic sequences. This quasi-literary adjunct of psychotherapeutic work is illustrated from the work of many contributors. It is argued that therapists can be trained in these skills as in the elements of a craft.
