Abstract
The critical behavior of d-dimensional ferromagnets with quadrupole-quadrupole short- and long-range interactions is discussed on the basis of renormalization-group calculations to orber ε2, with ε=4-d. Such interactions may lead to a first-order transition, to characteristic "cubic" critical behavior, or to the usual isotropic critical behavior.
