QED corrections to the binding energy of the eka-radon (Z = 118) negative ion

Abstract

The total quantum electrodynamic (QED) correction for the electron affinity of E1118 was calculated and found to reduce the Dirac-Coulomb-Breit coupled cluster value by 9.2%. This is the largest relative QED correction observed for neutral or weakly ionized atomic systems, and it confirms the importance of these corrections in superheavy atoms.
