QCD effects in pp collisions at SSC energies

We investigate the dependence of the number of minijets as a function of the impact parameter of the interaction. Assuming a mild x dependence of the transverse structure functions of the colliding protons, it is shown that the average number of minijets increases significantly when one requires the presence of a hard collision. This effect can be important when scrustinizing events which include a hard QCD component at SSC/LHC energies.
