Abstract

The yellow intermediate formed in the dithionite reduction of DPN to DPNH is postulated to be a charge-transfer complex DPN +⊐SO2, on the basis of comparison of the spectra of intermediates derived from both 3- and 4-carbamidopyridinium ions and sodium dithionite.
