Abstract

Proton geminate recombination is observed in reversible excited-state intermolecular proton transfer reactions. Introducing a proton scavenger into the solution reduces the proton geminate recombination yield. At low scavenger concentrations the experimental data are in excellent agreement with a newly developed diffusive model.
