Abstract

The classical probabilistic simulation approach is extended in this paper to allow for partial outages of units which are scheduled to generation according to their merit order. Recursive relations for up to a four-state representation of the generating units are developed. The generalization to more than four states per unit is also presented. The approach was programmed and applied to a realistic power system. Selected results of the computer runs are analyzed and compared, and some computational considerations are discussed.
