N2 - Preliminary experiments were carried out to investigate possible benefits of using a relatively new type of fluidic actuators (Raman & Raghu [1]) in combination with attached aft bodies to reduce the drag on a standard semi-trailer truck. The actuators generate oscillating jets that cause the formation of streamwise vortices that enhance the entrainment of the shear layer significantly. Taking into account the potential feasibility of any add-ons to a trailer, seven different bodies with simple geometries were chosen for this investigation.
