Abstract

We give an account of 3 patients who developed neurological pathologies after traumatic events. The theoretical relationship between trauma and the etiology of amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), Guillain-Barre syndrome (GBS) and multiple sclerosis (MS) is discussed based on a literature review. Although an association of trauma and neurological pathologies remains controversial, it is important to recognize trauma as a risk factor for later neurological disorders in the follow up of patients post trauma, a factor which also has major legal implications.
