Abstract
An analysis of the structure of sleep in 10 healthy subjects and in 70 patients with psychogenic affections has evidenced that the intensity of the situation anxiety, the rigidity of the affect and intraversion come in conjunction with deficient δ sleep, while the need for a REM sleep and its qualitative features are independent forms of the neurotic syndrome. Different treatment patterns depending upon particular personality traits are suggested in cases of disturbed sleep.
