Abstract

Plasma inhibitory activity against activated PTA (plasma thromboplastin antecedent) was diminished during pregnancy. Plasma contains at least 2 inhibitors against this clotting factor, C1- inactivator and an additional agent found in the α-globulin fraction. During pregnancy the concentration of C1 inactivator was diminished in 13 out of 34 women, while the concentration of the second inhibitor was apparently subnormal in all 18 women tested.
