Planning and climate - the case of Di-Zahav.

Research output: Contribution to journalArticlepeer-review

Abstract

Climate is one of the important factors which must be taken into consideration in all levels of planning. An example of such a situation is the case of Di-Zahav, a new settlement located about 130 km south of Eilat, on the alluvial fan of wadi Dahab. The area has an extremely hot and arid climate, and suffers from very strong winds blowing throughout the year from the northern section. A protection system consisting of planted and artificial windbreaks was planned and implemented. Modifications were made to buildings in order to prevent strong winds blowing into them. (A)
