Pion-induced quasifree knockout and charge-exchange reactions: A possible probe of neutron density at the nuclear surface

Research output: Contribution to journalArticlepeer-review

Abstract

The pion-induced quasifree nucleon knockout and charge-exchange reactions are shown to have a strong sensitivity to the difference between neutron and proton densities at the nuclear surface. Their possible use as a probe of the neutron densities is discussed. NUCLEAR REACTIONS σ(π-, π-n)qfσ(π+, π+p)qf, σ(π+, π0p)qfσ(π+, π+p)qf; calculated sensitivity to the neutron density.
