Abstract
Studies of pion absorption in He are shown to be a useful tool for understanding effects of short-range nucleon-nucleon dynamics. The observables that can be sensitive to these effects are the polarization of outgoing nucleons in absorption on the quasi-deuteron pairs and π- absorption on the diproton pair. Possible mechanisms that lead to absorption on three nucleons are discussed.
