Abstract

The effect of solution composition and concentration on the photoluminescence decay profile was measured for CdSe single crystals immersed in various aqueous solutions. Correlation with interfacial composition and chemistry was based on Auger electron spectroscopy and atomic absorption spectroscopy. The CdSe surface recombination velocity was found to be strongly dependent on the ionic solution composition and concentration. The results were explained in terms of ion chemisorption on the CdSe surface and were compared with similar results we had obtained for CdS.
