Photoionization and phosphorescence detection of singlet→triplet transitions in supersonic jets: Low-lying triplet states of benzaldehyde and acetophenone

Abstract

The spectral features of the singlet→triplet transitions detected by phosphorescence excitation can be significantly different from those of the same transitions obtained by multiphoton ionization. The difference between the two spectra are described and discussed for jet-cooled benzaldehyde and acetophenone in terms of possible rotational effects on IVR and T1→S0 radiationless transition.
