Abstract

An 81-year-old woman developed acute arthritis as a complication of phenytoin treatment. Fever and eosinophilia accompanied the arthritis, which subsided on discontinuation of the drug and reappeared after its reintroduction. The mechanism responsible for this drug reaction may be immunologically mediated.
