Abstract
8 Jaundiced patients with Dubin Johnson syndrome were treated with oral phenobarbital, 0.1 g 3 times daily for 2 wk. Serum bilirubin and bromsulfalein clearance decreased (p < 0.005) while other parameters of liver function were not altered significantly. Phenobarbital appears to act by enhancing biliary excretion of organic anions.
