Persistent ocular lateropulsion in Wallenberg's syndrome responsive to phenytoin

Abstract

We report on a 37-year-old female who suffered a left lateral medullary stroke with ipsilateral eye deviation which improved after the administration of low-dose phenytoin. The mechanism of the gaze disturbance and the presumed therapeutic effect of phenytoin are further discussed.
