Abstract

Background: Perianal Paget's disease is an uncommon intraepithelial neoplasm that involves areas affluent with apocrine glands, most frequently in the female external genitalia, but may also affect the perianal region. Objective: We present the pathologic and clinical management of a case of Paget's disease involving the perianal region, in which diagnosis was delayed for 8 years. Conclusions: The importance of a high index of suspicion for early diagnosis is emphasized, which should be followed by aggressive surgical treatment with wide excision and local reconstruction.
