N2 - We describe a previously healthy adolescent boy who presented with respiratory distress, hypotensive shock, and a diffuse erythematous rash. The final diagnosis was diabetic ketoacidosis. Caregivers should be alert to this unusual combination of symptoms in the emergency department setting in order to improve the recognition and management of children with new-onset diabetes.
