Abstract
Domain broadening effect occurring in periodically poled ferroelectric domain structures fabricated for nonlinear optical converters is studied. It is shown that a step-shaped switching electrode gives rise to a strong tangential electric field. The field causes a screening current and polarization switching below a dielectric layer of the fabricated patterned electrode.
