Abstract
Data on polygraphic registration of nocturnal sleep were compared with results of a clinico psychological examination of 20 patients with hysterical neurosis. Sleep structure variations depending on the presence or absence of (psychological adaptation) are discussed. A hypothesis of the mechanical effect of attacks of hysterical changes in consciousness on nocturnal sleep is suggested. Cases of complete insomnia during examination are described as a sample of the manifestation of hysterical symptoms.
