N2 - The study examines a simultaneous equation model in which pay and its valence are mutually dependent, and gender is their focal determinant. A 2SLS analysis is performed on an Israeli probability sample. The results indicate that valence of pay may 'explain' pay differentials between male and female employees, and that pay levels affect gender-based differences in the valence attributed to pay.
