Abstract

This paper describes the relatively simple synthesis of the new functionalized hydrofluorovinyl ether monomers 1a-c, and their homopolymerizations and copolymerizations with tetrafluoroethylene. Several approaches are then developed for conversion of the pendant sulfide groups to sulfonyl chlorides or fluorides including novel processes using HOF acetonitrile and bromine trifluoride.
