Abstract

A case of incapacitating lumbar pain of long evolution, in a soldier of 35 years of age, is presented. The patient wanted to pass into the reserve forces because of his symptoms. The AP X-ray of the lumbar spine revealed the existante of a zone of osseous sclerosis in the left inferior pubic ramus. The radiological study of the entire body demonstrated the existance of sclerosis at the level of the 2nd and 3rd metatarsals of the left foot. All these findings formed the diagnosis of osteopetrosis tarda. This article discusses the rareness of this disease and its curious presentation in the form of severe long term low back pain.
