Abstract

Friction melanosis is an acquired pigmentary disorder consisting of diffuse, brown pigmentation resulting from repeated rubbing of affected areas of the skin. An institutionalized child whose lower back was subjected to intense and repeated rocking displayed the characteristic lesions.
