Abstract

Mathematical formulation of two problems concerning the optimal design of power systems (i) maximum reliability subject to cost constraint, and (ii) minimum cost subject to reliability constraint are considered in this paper. In both problems, additional constraints imposed by the normal operational requirements are taken into account. The proposed procedure is illustrated by two simple numerical examples.
