Abstract

The bleaching of sodium solutions in propylenediamine by illumination with Q-switched ruby laser pulse was studied. The transmission-intensity curves were interpreted in terms of two absorptions, the first from the sodium anion, and the second from a metastable state whose existence was shown earlier. The results are compared with previous study on cryptocyanine.
