Abstract
The starting (transient) and steady-state characteristics of the motor-mechanical load coupled powered by a solar cell generator are investigated. Two load types--constant load (volumetric pump) and ventilator load (centrifugal pump)--are analyzed. The study contributes to the understanding of the system operation for different solar insolation levels. The permanent-magnet dc motor coupled to a ventilator load type is found to be a suitable combination for the solar cell generator. It is also determined that the ventilator load is much more compatible with the solar cell generator than the constant load.
