Abstract
Six patients underwent one stage bilateral total hip replacement. The average anesthetic time was 4 1/4 hours and operating time 3 1/2 hours. Average blood loss during operation was 1,850 ml. and post operative suction drainage was 1,447 ml. Average hospital stay was 26 days. The one stage bilateral procedure is advisable because two anesthesias and two operations are avoided, giving the advantage of a single hospitalization and shorter rehabilitation without a significant increase in risk.
