Abstract

The reaction NH2 + O3 was studied by flash photolysis of NH3 + O3 (λ > 250 nm) using intracavity laser spectroscopy. This reaction governs NH2 decay at low ozone pressures (PO3 < 0.5 Torr) and its rate constant is k1 = (1.2 ± 0.3) × 10−13 cm3/s At PO3 > 0.5 Torr,NH2 decay is due to the following mechanism: NH2 + O3 → NH2O+O2 (1), NH2O+ O3 → NH2 + 2O2 (8),NH2O → NHOH (10) with k8 = (2.0 ± 1.5) × 10−14 cm3/s.k10 = (1.3 = 0.1) × 103 s−1.
