Abstract
Attempts to understand the phrase now noto were mainly based on the general meaning of the verb now 'forget'. Other interpretations based on the context have sometimes been suggested. The interpretation proposed here is based on the main use of the verb now in the Torah and on its surprising occurrence in a fourteenth-century Samaritan piyyut.
