Abstract

Recently, after my paper was published [1], I found that the energy partition problem was set, in fact, by Lord Rayleigh in 1877. He wrote [2]: 'It has often been noticed, in particular cases of progressive waves, that the potential and kinetic energies are equal; but I do not call to mind any general treatment of the question'. The Lord Rayleigh paper should be added to the list of references of my paper [1]. Remarkably, although this topic has repeatedly been mentioned in the literature, the 'general treatment' is done in the above my paper only 138 years later after the note of Lord Rayleigh.
