Abstract
The asymptotic behaviour of the generalized dimension D∞ of the field of palinstrophy (curl ω)2 is revisited for turbulent grid flow, boundary layer and turbulent jet. A "direct" method based on the evaluation of the scaling exponent of the integral M = ∫Ω(r) g(x)dx in the regions of extreme values of M was used for obtaining the values of D+∞ for the field of palinstrophy and D-∞ for the field of enstrophy from experimental data. These values are in good agreement with those obtained using the method of moments/partition functions.
