On randomized uniform/lattice quantization

Abstract

In this work we extend our previous work and further investigate the uniform/lattice quantizer followed by a lossless entropy code. Specifically we find expressions for the rate of this coding technique for various implementation methods. We emphasize universal results, but we also provide expressions for specific sources, e.g., the Gauss-Markov source. A detailed comparison to the optimal Entropy Constrained Vector Quantizer (ECVQ) is also provided.
