Abstract
The thermal equilibrium of a plasma which is self-localized (i.e., without an external support) is constructed. It may be stable only if radiation or thermal sources in addition to being temperature dependent, are also explicitely spatially inhomogeneous. Such a situation may be realized, for instance, in the case of a spatially localized source (say that of a- particles) and enhanced radiation at the plasma edge due to wall-plasma interaction.
