On a recently Found Moabite Inscription

Abstract

It is argued that the appellative qn in a recently published Moabite inscription from Ataroth (modern Hirbet 'Atarūz in Jordan) probably means »family, clan«. The combination qn + toponym probably denotes a kin-based conglomerate.
