Observation of new singular solutions of the nonlinear schrödinger equation

Abstract

We investigate theoretically and experimentally the collapse dynamics of non-Gaussian beams. Surprisingly, we find that the spatial profile evolves to a ring rather than to the Townes profile as the beam collapses.
